Warning: spear-phishing campaign targeting IS MU login credentials
The Cybersecurity Team of Masaryk University warns of an ongoing spear-phishing campaign aimed at stealing login credentials for the Masaryk University Information System.
Vice-Rector for Research and Doctoral Studies Šárka Pospíšilová awarded four dozen graduates, supervisors and consultants for excellent results in Ph.D. studies. Our colleagues David Střelák, Luděk Matyska and Jiří Filipovič were also among them, to whom we congratulate!
The award for excellent results in Ph.D. studies was awarded for the third time. It is awarded to those who have successfully completed their Ph.D. studies in the standard period of four years extended by a maximum of one year, and at the same time have been selected on the basis of obtaining high-quality research results included in the dissertation.
David Střelák is a member of the Jiří Filipovič´s Research Group, a consultant for his dissertation, and a graduate of the Informatics program at the Faculty of Informatics, where he was tutored by Luděk Matyska, former director of the Institute of Computer Scicence and current director of the CERIT-SC research center.
In his work and research, he focuses on the possibilities of speeding up image processing from cryo-electron microscopy, which limits the computational complexity. The practical outputs of his research are then used in many world workplaces, for example in The National Centre for Biotechnology.
"My studies were unconventional in that they took place under cotutelle with UAM (Universidad Autonoma de Madrid) and in collaboration with CSIS (Consejo superior de investigaciones scientificas), resp. by the team of Professor Caraz and Dr. Sorzan. So we were treading the path for long-term cooperation and at the same time we managed to get some nice results for both groups. The award gives it the imaginary cherry on top, and I'm very pleased that it also includes trainers and consultants, because it wouldn't be possible without them," David Střelák summarizes his impressions.
Consultant Jiří Filipovič is also happy about the award: "The award is a nice confirmation of the impression that the work we have done is coming out very well even when compared to the results of other students across the university. I am happy for David that his hard work has been transformed into practical results and a successful defense at MU and in Madrid. For me personally as a trainer-consultant, it is particularly encouraging that my first graduate turned out so well."
