Description Students of 9th grades of elementary school and 3rd grades of four years grammar schools and pupils of corresponding grades of eight years grammar schools were exposed to test examining skills necessary for work with information (finding information in the text, finding data in table or a graph, analysis of data from several record types (text, table, graph), data transmission from text into the table or graph, asking questions). For older pupils, the test was extended by tasks that required some special chemical skills (chemical calculations, chemical nomenclature, transfer of verbal description of chemical reaction to chemical equation, fundamental concepts of chemical equilibrium). The test was accompanied by a questionnaire exploring opinions of pupils on the test questions and frequency of practicing of similar skills at school. Teachers answered a similar questionnaire. This article handles the part of the results of the questionnaire survey.
