Description | In order to understand parasites diversity and host-parasites relationship in unexplored erare, diverse African fish are becoming to be more intensively studied for their parasites. Since 2004, we have studied the diversity of fishe parasites in five African countries (Senegal, Sudan, Kenya, Zimbabwe and South Africa) where a wide range of host fish has been collected and investigated. Haptoral sclerite morphology and sequencing of the nuclear rDNA revealed the presence of parasites representing six genera of Gyrodactylidae when only four of them are currently known for the sciences. |
