Description | A discussion about quality in foreign language teaching inevitably addresses one of its central challenges – teacher professionalism. In order to gain deeper insight into teacher professionalism it is vital to focus on the best representatives of the profession, on expert teachers. The paper aims to present a research project which attempts to investigate the nature of expertise in foreign language teaching. More specifically, its theoretical background, methodology and results related to performance (observable aspects of expertise), knowledge and insight (deep / hidden aspects of expertise) in expert teachers of foreign languages will be discussed. |
