Description | In the paper, the author analyses attitudes of the Byzantine writers of the 11th and 12th century to the Emperor Alexios Komnenos' royal advisory committee reform. This analysis takes into consideration political and social milieu of each writer and aims to ascertain how much this reform influenced traditional description of the ideal advisor appearing in the historiographical and rhetorical literature of the period. |
