Description The present paper deals with the opportunities for the development of learner autonomy in ELT and teacher beliefs about learner autonomy. Firstly, the most important concepts of this thesis are explained and then the researches carried out in this field are introduced in order to show the research that has been conducted so far. Finally, detailed descriptions of the most relevant Czech and foreign researches are provided to facilitate the understanding of this issue.
