Citation
Description This book analyses the impact of a set of individual and contextual factors on voter turnout. By using multilevel models, it strives to move the content of the analysis from common direct effects towards more complex contingent effects of explanatory variables on probability of voting. Since a review of previous research indicates that all contingent effects may follow the same logic, it proposes the so-called political equality hypothesis which could be perceived to be a near-universal tool (i.e., the “higher principle”) for developing more specific suppositions about contingent effects in voter turnout theory.
