Description A detailed research of bryophytes in the area of the former mine Žebračka near Zlaté Hory was carried out in the years 2013–2014. This mine was exploited actively till 1990, when copper ores (Cu-ores) were mined there. That´s why increased amount of Cu in soil can be supposed in this locality. The aim of this study was to verify if in Žebračka locality occur interesting and rare species of bryophytes which are typical for the field of Cu-ores. Bryological research in this area has not been carried out yet. This study brings new data on the incidence of 49 kinds of bryophytes in the locality which is already 20 years closed to the public. The presence of the species bound to substrates containing heavy metals have not been confirmed. Interesting was finding of endangered species Discelium nudum.
