Description | Leading the socialist legacy to the placement of Roma children into special schools significantly simplifies the recognition of past and the strategies towards its overcoming. Unsuccessful pressure under the Czech authorities from international bodies towards decreasing number of Roma students in special schools can be partially explained by the necessity to transform the continuity of procedures established during the socialist period as well as revise the approaches to understanding the right to education. Typical of international prescriptions, exhausting the issue of education by the task to ensure human capital of Roma students prevents from discussions about the own Roma attitudes to the education for them. This focus on authorities and educators continues the socialist tradition to keep the Roma away from the access to epistemic justice – the ability to understand their own situation and share their opinion. |
