Description | The nucleic acid structure, particularly that of DNA, is sensitively modulated by non-specific physical and chemical environmental factors such as nucleic acids concentration, water activity, molecular crowding, viscosity, temperature, pH and/or concentration and nature of counter ions. Existence of environmentally promoted conformational polymorphism thus indicates that characterization of DNA structure, dynamics, and DNA-ligand/protein interactions should be ideally performed under native conditions in complex environment of living cells. |
