Description The paper The Presentation and Mediation of Artistic Software examines the topic of artistic software in the context of gallery space and education. Firstly, we will theoretically define the field of software art and the questions of software art presentation towards the recipient and we will anchor these theoretical approaches in pedagogical and gallery practice. Our practical experience was based on the lessons provided to students in the course of Software Art taught in the program of Theory of Interactive Media at the Faculty of Arts, Masaryk University, Brno and the series of seminars held at the Department of Art at the Faculty of Education. The students’ own work was presented in a series of exhibitions focusing on the history of software art and creative code writing. Within these projects, we decided on three educational and curatorial strategies that we want to present in this conference paper. In selected strategies we combine at one hand ways to present the artwork, and how to reflect it theoretically, while on the other hand attempt to encourage thinking about software art through own (students’) creation. With our findings provided in the presented paper, we want to contribute to the discussion on ways to present and mediate software art in the gallery space and modes of teaching this subject at the university.
