Description | At our department, we show constant activities to improve the quality of teaching. In the last academic year, the most significant innovations took place in the field of teaching in clinical trials and the subject of clinical pharmacology. As a national coordinating point for the CZECRIN infrastructure, the Department of Pharmacology of the Faculty of Medicine, Masaryk University, is involved not only in the organization and support of academic clinical trials, but also in education in this area. Thanks to the involvement of our department in the international project CONSCIOUS, materials related to clinical trials were prepared for undergraduate students. Unlike the first area, the teaching of clinical pharmacology has been established for a long time, but even here we have started innovations with regard to the growing demands for the reasonable prescribing and the introduction of multidisciplinary teams that will ensure this kind of quality. Equally important stimuli were the impressive results of colleagues who had previously implemented modern teaching methods. The content of the course is then focused on the most risky areas of pharmacotherapy, which we identify from published papers on drug problems and medication errors, as well as from our own clinical practice. In both of these subjects, traditional teaching is transformed into a so-called learner-centered model with an emphasis on the development of skills, the solution of specific questions and case studies, and the practical application of knowledge. The internationalization of teaching is also supported. The specific concept of both subjects with practical examples will be introduced. |
