Citation
Description In terms of content, the edited book can be chronologically divided into three periods, namely the Early Slavic period, characterised mainly by the arrival of Slavic tribes in Central Europe, the Pre-Great Moravian and Great Moravian periods, in which the emphasis was placed primarily on settlements, material and spiritual culture, but also on everyday life and funerary rhythms. The publication is aimed primarily at the users of the travelling exhibition of the same name, who are mainly primary and secondary school pupils and their teachers. The manner, breadth and depth of information have been adapted to this. The authors of the exhibition project and the individual texts in the publication are students of the master's degree in museology, who had the task of researching and elaborating on the chosen issue, based mainly on modern archaeological research and its results, and presenting it in an acceptable form to the "teenage" public. It is for this reason that this edited publication contains mainly an overview of the selected topics, the aim of which was not to provide exhaustive archaeological knowledge, but rather to identify and name the central themes and problems. The authors have drawn primarily on available archaeological publications, focusing on Slavic settlement and development mainly in the Czech Republic and Slovakia. They also relied heavily on the results of the archaeological documentation of the Department of Archaeology and Museology, especially on the excavations carried out by the department in Pohansko near Břeclav.
