Description This study investigates the framing of news media by the Czech populist radical right politician Tomio Okamura, the leader of Freedom and Direct Democracy, on Facebook. It analyses the conditions under which the leader employs accusations of untruthfulness against news media and frames news media as a source of information and an arena for communication. A quantitative content analysis of claims (n = 1,740) made by Okamura between 2013 and 2020 suggests an influence of strategic party positioning and contextual opportunities on the framing of news media and an affinity of populist radical right framing with alternative news media.
