Description This chapter explores Immersive Virtual Reality (iVR) as a versatile tool for scien-tific research, particularly in education and psychology. It traces iVR’s evolution,emphasising the significance of head-mounted displays and the continuum of im-mersion levels. The chapter categorises iVR designs, focusing on individual andgroup engagement. Highlighting iVR’s role as a research tool and its use in simula-tion studies, the chapter also addresses its potential as a new medium for educationalinterventions. It concludes by acknowledging challenges and opportunities in study-ing iVR-specific phenomena and advocating for a nuanced approach to leveragingits potential for research and education
