Description	The present invention provides a method for increasing the resistance of plants to abiotic stress, in particular to drought and soil salinity, by increasing the expression of the DIR13 gene or its ortholog or its homologue in the plant. It also provides plants with such increased expression of the DIR13 gene or its ortholog or its homologue.
