Description A new dye-based matrix (Basic Blue 7) for MALDI mass spectrometry imaging has been discovered. Basic Blue 7 allows a new method of application on samples – tissue staining by sample immersion in dye solution. This protocol allows to record high-quality MALDI MS images in both positive and negative modes, comparable to those obtained with classical matrices 2,5-dihydroxybenzoic acid and 1,5-diaminonaphthalene.
