Description | Synthesis and characterization of compounds containing Al-N bonds is currently in the focus of interest because of possible application as precursors for the III-V semiconductors. The reaction of trimethylaluminium with 2,6-diisopropylaniline afforded alumazene, the single known example of trimeric iminoalanes. A dealkylsilylation reaction between alumazene and tris(trimethylsilyl) ester of phosphoric acid provides a heteroadamantane molecule. This compound was characterized by analytical and 1H, 13C, 29Si, 31P, 1H-1H COSY and 1H-13C HSQC NMR, IR and RA spectroscopic methods and its molecular structure was established by a single-crystal X-ray diffraction experiment. Moreover, trialkyl and triaryl phosphates, and dialkyl phosphonates react with alumazene at elevated temperature to afford an intractable mixture of products. The reaction of phosphonic acids with alumazene proceeds under decomposition to yield 2,6-diisopropylaniline and aluminophosphonates. |
