Description | The IL-18 gene has been suggested a susceptibility gene for allergic diseases for its important role in the balance between Th1 and Th2 immune responses. This was supported by several studies in which associations between some of the IL-18 gene polymorphisms and different atopic phenotypes were reported. In this study, we investigated an association of IgE-mediated allergic diseases in the Czech population and -133C/G single nucleotide polymorphism in the IL-18 gene promoter 2 which was previously associated with high IgE levels and specific sensitization in one study. |
