Description The relative concentration of atomic hydrogen in the afterglow in a quartz tube was measured by means of Electron Paramagnetic Resonance (EPR) spectrometer. A~small amount (from 0.3\%) of oxygen or nitrogen was added into the hydrogen afterglow by a capillary. Both the oxygen and the nitrogen caused a strong increase of the atomic hydrogen concentration. Furthermore, the oxygen caused a widening of the absorption line of the atomic hydrogen.
