Description | All main stratigraphic units of the foreland basin are traditionally evaluated as the response of flexural subsidence of the foreland plate and thrust loading. Formation of the wedge shaped body of sediments issupposed with its thickening towards the orogenic front. Progressive thrusting should result to the characteristic distribution of deposits with various lithology and stratigraphy. The position of the Lower badenian deposits within the Carpathian Foredeep basin and their facies distribution is not in coincidence with this model. |
