Description | The rate-dependent modulation of action potential (AP) playes an important role in the regulation of the excitation-contraction coupling and in the protective antiarrhythmic mechanisms in cardiac cells. We can conclude that the main determinants of rate-dependent variations of AP duration in rat ventricular myocytes are the calcium current ICa and the transient outward current Ito. Under our experimental conditions, participation of other current components was negligible. |
