Description The paper analyses the representative function of the European party system. This is a case-study of building of transnatinal party structures on the base of eurocommunism. Eurocommunism as an original European ideological streaming was created in the 70s as an expresison of resistence against Moscow dominance in the communist movement. For a long time eurocommunism had no party representation on European level. In 2004 the Party of the European Left was restablished. Today eurocommunism is characterized by a positive attitude to the European Union, but it causes some problems to the Party of the European Left inside the radical left party family. Some orthodox communists, left-wing populists or Scandinavian green-left parties are strongly critical towards the EU and they do not accept the radical left party on European level.
