Description | Asymmetric dimethylarginine (ADMA) is a posttranslationally modified form of arginine that is generated in all types of cells during the process of degradation methylated proteins. We report here development of a new HPLC method for the determination of ADMA using fluorescent detection. After solid-phase extraction procedure and evaporation of the eluate under gentle stream of nitrogen the reconstituted samples were derivatised with an ortho-phthaldialdehyde reagent containing 3-mercaptopropionic acid. Formed derivatives were analysed on a Hydro-RP column using isocratic elution and fluorescence detection. |
