Description The curricular changes in the area of education aim to improve the development of the pupil's key competencies. That requires the teachers' change of the general strategies for education and upbringing, their methods and the forms of education. One of these methods, which is aimed at improving the key competencies of pupils, is the project method which has recently been used more frequently. The creation and the realization of a project is a demanding process for which the teacher has to be sufficiently prepared. Primary Education students have to be able to design a project, to realize it in the school where they teach as part of their teaching work experience, and to reflect on the results of their work. When reflecting on the results of their work, they are encouraged to think about their competencies for project teaching the degree of knowledge, skills, attitudes and experiences. The results of their selfreflection are an incentive for increasing the overall quality of the professional preparation of students, and for regulating the degree of the students' competencies. The contribution mentions results of the process of selfreflection that had taken place after the project which has been supervised by students of the 4th year of Preliminary Education at PdF MU, Brno in 2006.
