Description Hard wear resistant hexamethyldisilazane modified DLC coatings were prepared using PECVD on polycarbonate substrates. The mechanical properties of the prepared coating/substrate systems were studied using depth sensing indentation test. The hardness and elastic modulus of coating/substrate systems increased more than one order of magnitude compared to the hardness of the polycarbonate substrate. Increased creep resistance was observed too. The samples prepared in optimum conditions exhibited interesting anelastic (time dependent reversible deformation) behaviour, healing out of indentation prints was observed after several hours of indentation tests.
