Citation
Description Mineralized tissues and bio-mineral structures i.e. bones, teeth or urolithiasis have been found to be excellent "archives" related to living habits, nutrition and exposure to changing environmental conditions. Analytical methods that can measure elements concentration at appropriate spatial resolution similar to that of above mentioned bio-minerals structure are laser induced breakdown spectroscopy (LIBS) and laser ablation ICP-MS spectroscopy (LA-ICP-MS). The technique of LIBS offers a simple and fast method of chemical imaging. LA-ICP-MS can provide the detection of ultra trace contents of elements and determination of isotopes.
