Description This paper analyses INSPIRE metadata editor, one of the main tools in European spatial data infrastructure that has been published on INSPIRE Geoportal. Metadata editor has been created as an instrument for XML files creation according to the Implementing Rules for INSPIRE metadata. For that reason has been this metadata editor tested for its correspondence between Implementing rules for metadata (or more precisely its draft from 25th April 2008 - i.e. the version, which is going to be approved by the European Commission). Results of this analysis have revealed inconsistencies between conceptual schemas of ISO standards (19115/19119/19139) and INSPIRE implementing rules, as well as discrepancy between Implementing rules for INSPIRE metadata and INSPIRE metadata editor.
