Description Predisposition to alcohol dependence is affected by multiple environmental and genetic factors. Modern molecular genetic techniques allow examining specific genes involved in the pathophysiology of complex diseases such as alcoholism. Between strategies for susceptibility gene identification are association studies. We carried out the association study of fourteen candidate gene polymorphisms and alcoholism. The association study was performed on 847 persons. We found the association between alcoholism and genes for COMT, MAO-B, IL6, IL2, LILRA1 and PSG11. All associated genes influence the neurodevelopment of central nervous system. We suppose the relationship between genes involved in the neurodevelopment of CNS and dispositions to the alcoholism.
