Description While many articles focus on the use of violence by specific types of interest groups, such as terrorist groups or gangs, the literature focusing on the more general topic of violence as a strategy of interest groups is relatively scarce. This article is aiming at finding suitable definitions of both interest groups and violence and answering some basic questions related to this topic. Both the types of interest groups using violence as a strategy and the types of violence that can be used as an interest group strategy are addressed. Based on the conclusions of the first part, a typology of groups using violence is introduced. Along with the theoretical conclusions, examples of real life interest groups using violence as a strategy are presented in the text.
