Description | The paper deals with an epidemiological compartmental model to describe cancer dynamics in a given population. Three methods including Kaplan-Meier algorithm and Weibull and exponential distribution fitting were used for estimation of the mean value of the survival time for four TNM stages of prostate cancer described by the 1977-2007 data from the National Oncological Register of the Czech Republic. While Kaplan-Meier methodology underestimated length of probable survival, both the distribution fitting methods resulted in overestimation. |
