Web homepage of the SmartLib project introducing basic goals and showing functionality.
Description SmartLib is a complex solution for libraries. It offers its own information system with variety of augmented reality functions. Alternatively, thanks to its modularity, it can be used as an expansion of current information system (e.g. Ex Libris Aleph). Anyone equipped with smartphone (currently iPhone, Android and WM7 platforms are implemented) can use operations such as book reservations, bookmarking and other useful functionality directly from the phone. Just by pointing the phone camera at QR codes on the shelves, you can acquire a list of books present in particular shelf. You can also scan book's barcode to obtain more information. SmartLib helps you to find your desired book in a maze of shelves by navigating you to exact position (like a GPS in a car). It was necessary to develop own system for handling indoor navigation, since GPS cannot be used in a closed spaces (because of the inability to have a direct view to at least three GPS satelites). SmartLib also keeps you informed about book reviews, user rating, content, author details, etc.
