Popis | The aim of this paper was to study the effect of a methyl group on the oxidation of xanthine (Xan). For this purpose, we investigated the electrochemical behavior of 1-, 3-, 7- and 9-methyl derivatives of xanthine on a pencil graphite electrode (PeGE) in the presence and absence of copper (II) ions using Linear Sweep Voltammetry (LSV) in combination with adsorptive stripping and elimination techniques under several conditions (pH, scan rate). It was found that the position of the methyl group on a xanthine skeleton is responsible not only for changes of oxidation peak heights and peak potentials but also for the mechanism of the corresponding oxidation processes. Based on the methyl group position, the formation of Cu (I)-complex and the electroanalytical determination of methylxanthines (mXans) in a mixture is discussed. |
