Popis Zinc oxide is an imprtant semicnoductor with a direct wide band gap of 3. 37 eV and a large exciton binding energy of 60 meV at room temperature. It has attracted considerable interest in the past years mainly because of its potential application in solar cells, chemical sensors and photocatalysts, etc. In the present work, ZnO nanoperticles have been synthesized by simple colloidal route and characterized by various techniques. The synthesis of ZnO nanocolloidal is based on a two step procedure directed towards the initial thermal transformation of zinc acetate dihydrate ZnAc2x2H20 into highly reactive (Zn4O)Ac6 clusters in ethanol medium followed by hydroxide induced consideration of ZnO nanoparticles. The obtained ZnO nanoparticles were further coated with tetraethyl orthosilicate (TEOS). Then the nanoparticles were thoroughly characterized by different characterization methods such as UV-Vis spectrophotometry, dynamic light scattering (DLS) and small angle X-ray scattering (SAXS) that showed ZnO nanocolloid in a size range 9 - 12 nm. Basing on the SAXS data a pair - distance distribution function was used for ab initio shape reconstruction of nanoparticles performed by dummy atom modelling as is complemented in DAMMIF and DAMMIN. The refined DAMMIN model is shown in Fugure 1.
