Popis | The establishment of multi-level governance in democratic countries creates the opportunity for politicians to gain and hold mandates on more than one level at the same time. The Czech Republic with its two-tier sub-national government system is no exception. In theory, a Czech politician can hold up to four elected positions. The aim of the chapter is to shed some light on multi mandate-holders, and answer the questions to what degree it is common for a member of the Chamber of Deputies to hold more than one position, and if the share of multiple mandate-holders changes in time. To answer these questions, the authors carry out a descriptive analysis based on the data of the Czech Statistical Office and the Parliament. The results show that the share of multiple office holders (substantially) increased within all analyzed parties and, in some cases, reached the maximum value of 100 %. |
