Popis New developments in Moravian archaeology over the past 25 years are introduced. Large-scale rescue excavations together with new methodological approaches have uncovered previously unknown archaeological evidence, or evidence that was previously misinterpreted. Lowland settlements are today recognised for all the cultural entities defined for the Bronze Age. For a long time settlements representing the Tumulus culture were poorly identified. Here, I address questions on the precise dating of archaeological evidence and cultural schemes and divisions of the Middle and Late Bronze Age in Moravia. Generally, issues arising from the culture-history paradigm prevailed and they are addressed by methods of the ‘New Archaeology’, with the aim of encouraging the integration of elements from the processual paradigm into processes and interpretations.
