Description | The quality of instruction represents a topical issue which is nowadays intensively elaborated. In the Czech Republic, however, systematical approaches to the issue are not fully established, yet. Suggestions and ideas how to effectively improve the quality of instruction (at practical level) are therefore rather scarce. In this context, the contribution seeks to introduce an intervention program SINUS, which has been established in Germany to develop the quality of mathematical and science instruction. The aim is not only to reflect principles and components of the program which appear to be inspirational, but also to explain its relevance for the Czech pedagogical environment. The purpose of the SINUS program was to propose measures which would ensure the improvement of the quality of instruction in the long term. The core of the program constituted from eleven thematic modules which were intent to improve the problems of the mathematical and science instruction in Germany, which have been highlighted as problematic within TIMSS study. The key characteristics of the program were initiative of teachers and their active cooperation and professionalization. |
