| Description | The twenty basic therapeutic diets listed in the Nutritional Care Manual and their main characteristics are in short introduced, as well as the role of the American Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (AND). Diets are updated according to current evidence-based knowledge. Uniform official terminology for diets established by AND within the Nutrition Care Process is recommended. Great emphasis is placed on individualization and liberalization during the therapeutic diet order, as well as on the ethnic, cultural and religious preferences of patients. |
