| Description | Genomes of closely related treponemes were compared using several methods of comparative and functional genomics. Genome of the causative agent of syphilis, Treponema pallidum ssp. pallidum (strain Nichols and SS14) was compared with the genome of causative agent of yaws, Treponema pallidum ssp. pertenue (strain Samoan D and Gauthier) and with the genome of non=pathogenic spirochete Treponema paraluiscuniculi. |
