Description | Six wilde-type strains of Enterobacteriaceae able to form a biofilm were used. After biofilm detection with modified Christensen method, 24-hours old biofilm in trypticase soy broth medium on 96-well polystyren microtiter plates was prepared. Eight antibiotics, namely cefotaxim, ceftazidim, cefoperazon, cefepim, netilmicin, amikacin, tobramycin, ciprofloxacin, individually and in combinations (netilmicin + ciprofloxacin, cefoperazon + ciprofloxacin, cefoperazon + netilmicin, cefepim + tobramycin, cefotaxim + amikacin, cefotaxim + tobramycin, cefotaxim + netilmicin, ceftazidim + amikacin, ceftazidim + netilmicin, cefepim + amikacin) were tested. Minimum biofilm inhibitory concentration (MBIC) and fractionate inhibitory concentration (FBIC) were determined. The combinations were classified as synergistic, partially synergistic, indifferent, or antagonistic. |
