This project reacts to the fact that a curricular reform has been implemented in the Czech Republic in the past 10 years and yet it has not
become a subject of research interest on the level of primary and lower-secondary school. The project focuses on teachers as actors of
educational change. The aims of the research are: (a) to explore teachers’ perceptions of new curriculum documents and curriculum reform
implementation (on the continuum between acceptance and resistance), (b) to analyse the relation between teachers’ perceptions of new
curriculum documents and reform implementation, (c) to identify factors influencing these perceptions. The research is divided into 3 stages:
(1) teachers’ perceptions of curricular documents and processes will be analysed in the context of other variables in a representative
questionnaire survey, (2) in-depth interviews will be conducted with teachers in the roles of curriculum makers, (3) case studies will be carried
out. The results (publications) will be relevant for basic research, as well as for educational policy and school practice.
